PSA for Gay

I have always been an advocate for happiness. In this skin we live one life and why not live doing whatever brings you the most joy? The American Dream is usually defined as man and women getting married, having 2.5 kids, white picket fence, and a golden Labrador Retriever. Why is that a same-sex couple cannot have this American dream? I have heard every argument about why same-sex marriage is wrong, including: “It will lead to the legalization of polygamy, bestiality, or incest,” the overused Adam and Steve joke, or the Bible says it is wrong. I do believe in the separation of church and state. I believe people’s religious beliefs should not interfere with how other decides to live their lives. The age old definition of marriage no longer appears to apply in America, and has not for some time. To prohibit gay marriage is to agreeably declare that America, the land of the free, discriminates against individuals. In The United States more than half percent of marriages end in divorce, how can congressmen say they are maintaining the traditional definition when it only pertains to less than half of American families?
American society tell people who fall in love and want to build a life with someone of the same sex that they are not entitled to the many benefits that a heterosexual married couple can get. Society is not only refusing same-sex partners a basic right to happiness, but society is forcing them to pay a penalty for being gay. It is time to be fair and give same-sex couples every benefit that every American man and women enjoy. The constitution of the United States affords every American’s equal rights. Not having the ability to have these rights is called discrimination, and not giving the right to marriage is preventing these rights.  The government has to give that respect to every individual regardless of their race, sexual orientation, religion, or gender.

Permitting gay marriage is fair to all involved. If homosexual couples are given the same rights as heterosexual couples, this does not necessarily mean our country is asking all people to be accepting to the LGBT community. Your beliefs are your own, and no law can change that, but not letting people of declare their love legally should not, and cannot, be allowed. Does America really want to suppress yet another group? Being fair is allowing our country to provide legal marriage rights to all couples, regardless of their sexual orientation. Again, we need to separate individual morals from decisions that affect all to make the right and fair decision. To put it simply, allowing gay marriage benefits all involved. It allows people of all races, genders and sexual orientations to make their own decisions involving marriage. It gives all the chance at happiness and the benefits marriage provides a couple. There is no downside to this proposal that cannot be argued as a advantage or disadvantage.
I chose to do this project because I believe in love. That everyone deserves the right to love who they want regardless of their sexual orientation. I chose to do a Public Service Announcement because the public need to know that there is more to love then being a man and women. Marriage is supposed to be God-giving right afforded to anyone wants to get married. It is not just seen as something that the government gives benefits for, but to be seen as equals as opposed to being labeled as “others.” I believe it is time for discrimination to stop and society should start treating others as equals. We need to make the right decision now and save future generations from being deprived of these rights. As they say, history should be learned from, not repeated. All people have the right to be happy and legally protected.

Winterguard's First Show

Today [Feb. 4, 2011] is Winterguard's first show and I SUPER excited! I believe I will do well and so will the rest of the girls. We have been practicing very hard since December, every Monday and Tuesday and early mornings on a SATURDAY! Ugh. The only thing I am hating is that it is before the game and not during half-time. Coach Graham said it was because of some tradition that we weren't allowed to do it. WHATTTever. Thats sooo retarded. Hope you guys can make it!

Stupid 40 Minute Essay!

I hate being rushed. Writing a good enough essay for an AP exam in 40 minutes is not in the cards for me. It will most likely be sloppy and not make any sense because, like I said before, I am not a good essay writer. That is exactly what my essay is sloppy and confusing. The essay I wrote for my SAT's was also a load of crap and I ended up with an eight. Not too bad, but I def can do better. If this is what the AP exam includes I will NOT be taking it.

Essays.. -__-

The one thing I hate the most is writing. Since I was a kid I have always hated writing essays. I am NOT the most creative crayon in the Crayola box. It fustrates me to write and to think of crap to write. I have all the thoughts in my head that I want to put on paper, but its putting my thoughts on paper that happens to be the problem. :( The whole reason I took AP was to get better at my essay writing which in the back of my mind I do not think is a good idea. Hopefully, this analysis essay I can have enough creative juices to write a bomb essay.

Now in AP Lit. I still have to blog :( My classes I have this year are fairly easy...

  1. AP Lit
  2. Ethnic Studies
  3. Oceanography (Formly AP Cal)
  4. Economics (With Mrs. Whitney -_-)
I had to get out of AP Cal and fast. No surprise my senior year I am super lazy and really just want to sleep and make A's. Its possible, I've done it before. So far the only work I have done is in my easiest class, Oceanography. Which sucks. Thank God and every other higher power its my last year.

Here comes the BRIDE!

Well last weekend I went to a wedding. My cousin, Keshia, got married to Myron. The decided to put me as host and I had to wear a black dress. Every girl should have that little black dress in her closet right? Nope not this girl. I went all over the place looking for a simple black dress in my size. No avail. Nothing. Nada. My aunt end up going to this store and found the most hideous black dress in the history of mankind. Well maybe not that bad, but it was ugly. So it is the day of the wedding and I still have no dress. I go to my great aunt's house to see if there is anything I could wear. To my surprise she had one and it was beautiful in my opinion, but it was not for a wedding. BUT I had no choice it was this or the ugly funeral dress. I rather look sexy than dead.

When we got the wedding EVERYBODY called me sexy and you know what...I was okay with that. The wedding was supposed to start at five, but us black people run on CP time and it started and hour and ten min late. Keshia looked beautiful. I have never, since I known her, seen her looked this girly. She is the typical tom boy, but today she was a beautiful woman. As she walked down the aslie, I almost cried because she was gorgous.  The ceromony wasnt too long and the cocktail hour begun. I was on my feet most of the night because of me being a hostess and all. I had to help serve food and drinks. Most of time I was barefoot because the heels I bought for the wedding were SUPER tall. Most likely built for strippers. ANYWAYS, the wedding wasnt all that bad, alot people didnt dance and that is what bothered me and only one person came up for the toss...

Sorry I've Been Away.

I usually keep my blogs up to date, but lately I have not been in the mood. It feels like I have so much to do and worry about, that blogging hit the bottom of my priority list. Its hard being a senior. Usually blogging can make my day better (without the blog assignment). At the moment I am thinking what to write for AMSND blog because I did not find the book that intresting, so its hard for my to concentrate on it. Now I have nothing to say...
